We designed the Kingpin putter “from the ground up” to deal with this situation. When we say “from the ground up” , we mean it. When the speed of the green increases, the amount of “lift” the putter applies to the ball needs to be reduced. This means less weight at the sole of the club and a reduction in the loft. The Kingpin has 20% less weight in the sole and 1.5 degrees less loft than its predecessor (the Tri Liner putter). That change gets the ball rolling properly on the new faster surfaces. At the same time, the swing speed of the stroke has to be reduced on the faster greens. That means the stability of the head must be increased to keep putts on line. The Kingpin has 82% of it’s mass in an arch at the rear of the putter. That gives the maximum possible stability that can be achieved with the putter’s mass. Modern putting strokes also want the putter go back and through with the face square to the target. The Kingpin is face balanced to promote this stroke. Its’ unique shaft and hosel allow it to maintain that face balance at any lie angle.
